A Night At The Opera (With A Difference)
My parents have started coming to London again - partly my fault, after I bought my father a year’s membership to the Couthauld a while back. They got used to daytime trips, which makes sense. After a very bizarre episode involving Royal Opera House vouchers they went to a matinee of La Traviata a while back. That went well, which pleased mecad I love the opera, and it’s nice to share things like that. To my immense surprise they later said they bought tickets to an evening performance of Rigoletto. A surprise initially because it’s an evening (which for me means home after midnight), but even more so when I found it was a performance to which I also had x ticket.
So, after a day in the London office, I walked over to the Opera House and met them! Different parts of the theatre, but we met in the interval and walked back to Waterloo together.
A total coincidence, and a really lovely one at that. Sadly as it was Rigoletto, this opera also ended with the young lady dying. We’ve also booked tickets to sit together for La Bohème. Another happy ending…
